How to Make Oven-Baked Chicken Wings
Bring wing night home by cooking your own chicken wings in the oven. Making baked chicken wings at home is just as tasty, but way healthier than the deep-fried restaurant variety. Recreate the restaurant wing experience: line plastic baskets with parchment paper for pub-style presentation and place small bowls of warm lemon water on the table for sticky fingers. Our version uses seasoned bread crumbs to mimic the crispy deep-fried version without the extra fat.
What you’ll need:
- 1 cutting board
- 1 sharp knife
- 1 resealable plastic bag
- 3 lbs chicken wings
- 3 cups of seasoned bread crumbs
- 1 baking sheet
First, get the oven ready by preheating it to 375°F (190°C). While it heats up, use a sharp knife to split the wing at the joint, then place these wings in a large resealable plastic bag (for shaking purposes) with the seasoned bread crumbs. Next, the fun part: shake like mad until the chicken wings are covered with bread crumbs!
Take the wings out of the plastic bag and place them on a baking sheet to cook in the oven for about 20 minutes. Keep an eye on them in case you need to grab some tongs and rotate them to ensure they cook evenly. When you take them out of the oven, let the wings stand for a few minutes. Totally customizable, you can eat them on their own, coat them in a Buffalo-style sauce, or dip them in your favourite dressing, like blue cheese or ranch.
Just make sure you’ve washed up before digging in: wash hands well and clean surfaces with warm soapy water and a cap of bleach.
