How to Make Quick & Easy Sausage Rolls
Sausage rolls are a savoury and delicious snack, popular in Canada and the UK. The only trouble with them is that they’re often full of fat and calories. One traditional sausage can have as much as 25 grams of fat, but our version contains only 15 grams and uses lean ground chicken instead of pork and substitutes the heavy pastry with a light and crispy phyllo dough.
Don’t be daunted by the idea of using phyllo either. Available in the freezer section of your grocery store, phyllo has a reputation for being difficult to work with due to its delicate texture, but when handled correctly nothing could be further from the truth.
After you’ve cooked up your filling simply add it your prepared phyllo, roll and bake in a preheated 350º F (175°C) oven for about 12-14 minutes or until crispy and golden.
Serve as a meal with a side salad or cut into smaller pieces for a delicious appetizer.
